The National Park Authority exists ‘To conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park‘ and ‘To promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the National Park by the public.’

The Field Studies Council is ‘an environmental education charity committed to helping people understand and be inspired by the natural world. Thousands of students every year experience the FSC through fieldwork and cross-curricular courses at our network of 17 centres across the UK.

Somerset Wildlife Trust is ‘the county’s largest independent conservation organisation and a charity dependent upon its 20,500 members. SWT is a challenging, constructive, science-based organisation that addresses issues from the survival of species and habitats, to environmental education.

The Quantock Hills AONB Service (Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty) ‘covers 99 sq km and is recognised as one of England’s most attractive landscapes, especially rich in flora and fauna. The primary purpose of AONB designation is to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the area, protecting it for future generations. The 41 AONBs in England and Wales share equal status with National Parks in terms of scenic beauty and landscape protection.
