Encourage birds into your garden and grounds!

It can be tough for birds to find enough food during the colder months of the year. Providing food for birds is one of the most helpful things that you can do for your garden visitors, so long as you are thoughtful with your feeding. The activity below will enable you to create fantastic bird feeders to hang in their gardens or around your meeting space that will help birds to stay healthy during the winter.

Apple bird feeder WWF

We aim to use as much natural and recycled materials in all of our activities. To make your apple bird feeder, you’ll need:

  • An apple
  • Some suitable seeds and grains (nyjer, millet, oats, and sunflower seeds work well)
  • String

Why not head back over to our activities page, where you’ll be able to access a range of activities for you to enjoy.

From bug hotels to bird feeders and recycled gorilla masks, all of our activities use freely available – or recycled – materials and are suitable for children of all ages.

Have you ordered your ‘The Panda Made Me Do It’ badge?

If you’ve completed this activity, you can show your support for WWF by ordering your very own ‘The Panda Made Me Do It’ badge. You can sew your badge onto a number of items, including blankets, pencil cases and bags.
